Erica is currently accepting new students for drawing, painting, sculpture and college portfolio reviews. She has maintained a private tutoring business through the platform Wyzant since 2021 but can also be contacted through email (see form below).

In 2019 she received a Bachelors of Fine Art degree in sculpture, graduating with honors from the Rhode Island School of Design, and in 2024 completed a Masters of Fine Art degree from Columbia University School of the Arts with a concentration in Sculpture: Expanded Practice.

While at RISD she completed graduate level courses from the department of Teaching and Learning Art and Design where she learned about art education practices in the classroom and in the field. In addition, to support research elements of her art practice she also enrolled in courses at Brown University. At RISD she assistant taught for a Design Foundations class that focused on color theory and gouache painting practices, and most recently was a teachers assistant for renowned artists such as Rirkrit Tiravanija and Sable Elyse Smith at Columbia where she helped develop lesson plans, guide in class critical thinking exercises, museum tours and one-on-one studio workshops. Prior to graduate school Erica was an educator at a private preschool in Park Slope Brooklyn, where she co-taught a class of four year old children, but also had the privilege of working in the programs for two and three year old children and substitute teach at the neighboring k-5 elementary school as well.

As her experience ranges from pre-school through college aged level, Erica is able to easily adapt to the unique and diverse needs of students. She has a strong knowledge of art history and is experienced in both traditional and conceptual/experimental art making practices. When it comes to making and learning she always encourages a balance of critical thinking, experimentation, and play. Erica is dedicated to cultivating a love of learning in all students, and creating a space that feels comfortable to ask questions, make mistakes and most importantly have fun

Lesson Structures

For each of Erica's private tutoring clients, she provides a lesson plan for each session. Lesson plans typically follow the following format (though are subject to change depending on the needs and interests of the student):

-Warm up drawings
-Introduction of concept
-Art historical reference (artists who speak to similar techniques/ideas)
-Exercise to explore class concept (quick drawing)
-Second exercise to explore class concept (long drawing/deeper investigation)
-Wrapping up/closing remarks
-Follow up at home assignment

Session Pricing and Hourly Rates

For all tutoring services Erica charges a $125 minimum per 75 minute session, with a $100 hourly rate after the first 75 minutes. Erica has found that in order to provide adequate time for warm ups and introduce concepts a minimum of 75 minutes is required, but for students to request longer sessions offers a $100 hourly option.

COMING SOON... Toddler Studio Tutoring Program

COMING SOON…One for You, One for Me : a West Village Studio Tutoring Program for Toddlers

Starting in the spring of 2026, Erica will be introducing One for You, One for Me: a studio tutoring program for toddlers and caretakers in New York City's West Village. The program invites parents/caretakers and their toddlers (ages 2-4yrs of age) to a collaborative studio program situated right in the West Village. With a class capacity of 10 (5 children, 5 caretakers) the studio school focuses on New York City local histories and expressing ideas through multimedia practices.

Each class begins with collective song accompanied by Erica on guitar, followed by an introduction of a contemporary local artist or art historical figure who has contributed to the rich cultural history New York City. After this introduction is an exploration of a similar technique, color palette, or gesture inspired by the artist. An essential component of the studio school is the use of sustainable, recycled, and ephemeral materials (which are provided) and the ways in which artists can transform an every day object or encounter into something meaningful and shared. The program is named after a song titled One for You, One for Me by the band Bright Eyes. The idea behind this nomenclature comes from the mission of the program which is the question: what does it mean to be an artist within the community of New York City, and moreover how can we as artists contribute to, and honor the legacy of artists from this place. Over the course of the program students will develop a personal portfolio of works from each session, but the class will also be generating a collective portfolio over the course of multiple sessions.

Students have the option to sign up for drop in classes, or for a full 4 week course, which includes a professionally bound copy of the class collective portfolio at the end of the course duration.

Something to give and something to take home, one for me, one for you, is an invitation towards finding your inner voice and how to become a part of the collective reverberation of this city.
